Ring! Ring!
Me: I.T. Department, this is Daniel.
Caller: Hey, Dan! Who are you? This is Tim from Oklahoma.
Me: I’m doing well, Tim.
Tim: Hey man, we need to catch up, but, I can’t talk long, today. I know you are like this uber smart computer guy and my boss needs some help with his cell phone. Can you help with that?
Me: Maybe, Tim. Have him call me and I will work with him on it.
Tim: He says it’s really slow and he can’t always make calls. It takes a long time for a call to go through.
Me: OK. First, remove all the applications on the phone that are not necessary. I’m assuming it’s a year or two old, so it may have a bunch of games and such on it. Treat it like a tool, not a toy or a game platform.
Tim: Alrighty, anything else?
Me: Yes. Every
morning turn the phone off for at least 20 minutes. This gives the phone time to disconnect and
unregister with he cellular network.
When he turns it back on, it will re-register with the network. He may receive some updates at that time. I find while showering is a good time for this.
Tim: OK. That makes sense. What else?
Me: Sometimes phones can be slow to place a call when calling through the local wifi connection. So, if he only has issues with a long wait for calls to go through, like when at home or at the office, try turning off wifi calling and see if that helps.
Tim: Awesome! Thanks, Man! We need to catch up, real soon, man.
Me: Sure, Tim. We need to do that.
Tim: OK, gotta run, dude. Catch ya later!
